The Vanillalicious Breckenridge VP

Oh, dang… I’ve got to drink another beer. I’m torn between what to tell my accountant about all this beer that has gone missing… It’s either chock it up to internet marketing, or tell him I dropped 1 beer out of every six pack in my cooler in a sacrificial ritual. Whichever it is I’m sure I’ll get yelled at… and I have to make sure he doesn’t start reading my Blog!

Anyway, once again I’m postponing doing my “Rush River” review because I happened to grab a different beer that I haven’t tried yet, and it seemed like a good one to talk about. So, for this week everyone gets to learn about Breckenridge Brewery’s “Vanilla Porter.” In case you didn’t know that Breckenridge Brewery is in Colorado; Imagine me shaking my head in disgust and amazement. Berating someone who doesn’t know that Breckenridge is in Colorado would be a waste of my time and brain power. Alas, I digress…

The first thing you notice about the Vanilla Porter is how the label is flanked with the words “REMARKABLE” and “PARTAKABLE” (the latter being a made up word according to my spell check). This seems pretty bold… but then again, when I make up words to tout how remarkable I am, it’s totally reasonable, so whatever. I am a fan of porters, and after reading the other little nuggets of info on the bottle like “original mountain recipe” and “seldom seen never duplicated” expectations were curiously high. When the beer hit my lips, the vanilla was definitely the first thing I noticed. It stayed apparent through what would be considered the “traditional” porter flavor and really accentuated the finish of the beer. Think of a vanilla cappuccino with out all the cream, sugar and caffeene, made with barley and infused with alcohol. I’m going to let the Breckenridge Brewery keep making up words, as long as they keep making good beers. Might I suggest “Vanillalicous?”
